Lucky enough to pick up a nail
I'm old, so my eyesight is not the best. I've glanced at my tires, and seen a lot of tread toward the outsides. Look good, I thought; no problem. Losing air in one, so I went to the local tire store, to have them look for a nail. They wouldn't even fix it. Not only were my rears worn out, down to the wear mark, in the center, all four have "dry rot", or cracking. They've been on for almost 4 years (only 17k miles), but were made at the end of '06.
If your tires are more than 3 yrs old, you should check for cracks. Glad I found this out the easy way, instead of at 80mph on the freeway.

Yeah, I guess the date is on the other side of this tire. Should be the last four characters are numbers - 4806 on one of my other ones, means 48th week of 2006. So, mine were about 7 months old when I had them put on.
