Getting IS250 Detailed
Just wondering if people get their car detailed and how much it usually costs them. I'm planning on doing it as soon as all the salt/sand is washed off the roads in the next week or two...
Local place has a package that is inside/outside - the works that takes 6 hours and costs $140.... Just wondering if that is a good price (I've had a lot of people vouch for their quality of work) or if it seems high.

I took my car to the dealership for my detailing job. I believe it cost about 130. They buffed the exterior and conditioned the interior. All in all... I am pretty satisfied with their work... but of course... you can always detail it yourself to save some money and "do it correctly". This will be time consuming though!

I just got my car detailed by a local detailer for $100 for about 2-3 hours of work. He did a wash, clay, 1 step polish, and wax. He actually did my front end first since I was just going to only get my clear bra done, but when he was done the front end looked new and the rest of the car looked like crap lol. Pretty happy with his work. I would actually stay away from dealerships when getting detailing them. They wash the cars with brillo pads when prepping them, I don't see how it would be much different during a detail.
In terms of doing it yourself, you could probably get away with a wash, clay, wax as long as your paint is in good condition and use a good clay that doesn't mar. I am now a firm believer that a clay is MANDATORY after the winter season. There's so much junk that sticks onto your car its ridiculous.

My biggest motivator is the inside isn't that clean right now... not just like soda bottles and stuff but just smudges, dirt, etc etc etc and I'm just too lazy and not careful enough to do it well.... but at least I know I'm worthless

$140 sounds good for a true 6 hour job. I was a pro detailer for 9 years before I joined the Air Force, now I hook up all my coworkers and give them full details for $50 (usually spend 5 hours on them). I love cars and I have lots of time off during the week, so works out for them and gives me some extra cash
