Default Putting oversized tires on FSport wheels...

So Lexus recommends 225/35 and 255/35 tires on the 19" FSport wheels, which are 19x8 and 19x9. I need new tires, and have been considering bumping the tire size up to 235/35 and 265/35, to get a but more width and height to help fill out the wheel wells. Im looking at a used set of Nitto Invo tires someone has, which are 235/35 and 285/30... and im looking for opinions on whether of not this will work. I know the fronts will be fine, but the rears i think will be too wide for 19x9 wheels. I beleive Nitto calls for a minimum 19x9.5 for that width. I currently have badly cracked Goodyear F1's, so i need to make a choice soon. Thanks in advance for the opinions...

Going up one size, front and rear would be best. The 285/30/19 is way too big for the wheel and the car.

I've got 265/35/19 on my rears. Did it for the same reasons as you. Haven't had any problems.

Don't know if that helps you or not

I think 285's are too wide for a 9" wheel.

I'd say a 275/30 would be pretty much maxed out on a 9" wheel. I'm going to attempt this next time around, but I'm pretty sure I'll need to roll the rear fenders a tad to clear the tire as I'm running a 10mm spacer on the Fsport wheels. I am thinking a 235 on the front would be perfect, the 225 feels a tad to "stretched" on the wheel under agressive cornering.

235/35 up front will work and 285/30 in the rear could work depending on the sidewalls of those nittos..there's a member with an is-f that did it on the stock is-f wheels which is the same width, but with contis..

The thing is all manufacturers are different even if they're the same size..

I had to debate whether or not to go oversized with my 18s...but alas, to have to not worry about rubbing I got stock sized tires. Good to know that a slight bump up to 235 and 265 won't hurt anything for future reference.

BTW, 285s would fit on a 19x9...but would it work well on the vehicle? Doubtful. Reminds me how one of my friends mounted 225 BFG drag radials for his Honda on OEM 14x5.5 wheels. Looked and worked like crap. LOL!

I remember saw thread saying that putting 235 in the front would rub on F-sport

235 is borderline on an IS. Some tires will work, some rub - appears to depend on the shoulder profile of the tire. If you search this forum you'll see some posts where the 235s work and some where they rub. This is probably why Lexus don't go higher than 225 on the front of any of the IS cars!
