Car Got Keyed... Again
#16
Yeah it sux because I already had the whole driver's side repainted less than a year ago because the key marks were so bad. I'm going to take it somewhere tomorrow and see what I can do. If nothing works, I'll probably just have it re-painted because it really bothers me

That sucks man...I feel your pain...some *** hole ran into my car in a parking lot this weekend and didn't leave a note. It looked worse then it was and most of it buffed out, but I'll still always know it's there. Can't believe people these days.

I think they do. There are so many haters out there, and I know of a few friends, some here on CL, who have been victimized by the haterade that these idiots consume thinking their rides are so glamorous that they can key someone else's ride. It's awful that this had to happen to the OP, and anyone else for that matter. But three times since you've had the car?! That's just not cool. Also, would the recommended Dr. Colorchip work because you have some nice metallic flakes on the car judging from the picture. I'd try buffing and rubbing compound first to see how deep the damage is. Sorry this had to happen!

It won't be 100% but at least 80%. This usually cost ~$100 compare to ~$1000 to repaint the whole panel.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I'm going to take it to a professional body shop this week and also buy some Dr Colorchip. I had just washed and waxed the entire car the night before for the FNM too .
Decypher- I parked normally, inside the lines with plenty of room to open a door on both sides.
^Hey, do you know any good body shops in SoCal? 100 compared to 1000 is a huge difference. Thanks

From my own personal experience I feel for those of you that live/work in the city and don't have personal garage space. Everyday city life will take it's toll on paint, fenders and especially bumpers... People are ruthless. My ES' body/paint was pristine when I moved to Philly in 2004, in 3 years it managed to inherit a kicked in front passenger side quarter panel, a rusty ding resembling a phillips head screw driver to the hood above the driver's side headlight, a "V" keyed into the front passenger side, and of course bumper scratches from people who can't parallel park. In 2007 when I moved back to Jersey, I haven't earned one battle scar... The ****ed up thing is that I'm friendly with everyone.. I'm the dude in the neighborhood that people come to when they need a hand with a project/a tool etc... Sometimes I swear your car is just in the wrong place at the wrong time but other times I think maybe it was a jealous ex-girlfriend lol. Now if the car is brand new, that's just plain ****ed up!
If this kinda thing happens to your ride while it's parked at your crib-- Install a good alarm system or even install some night vision *IP based web cams that record to a RAID hard drive array system...
