Muggy, you don't have to remove the paint on accents to do the plastic dip? from the pictures looked like you didn't.

I just did a similar thing to a set of chrome wheels I bought for my 2003 Ultra. The only part of the wheel that was peeling was the inside of the seven spokes on the lower side of the arch where water could have been laying - probably with salt from the winter roads. I sanded off the scale with a 180 grit wheel, masked them off and sprayed them with Rustoleam Professional paint - which is the best paint I have ever used on other products. The black reflects the chrome and it looks beautiful. Not bad for buying the ENTIRE SET for $249.00. I'll try to get some pictures off to the readers.

homestly thats not bad at all. cheap and smart and for ur situation.the overall finish doesnt look cheap, well atleast in the pictures.
