Red face Serious Question: Transporting mid-sized dog

So long story short, I need to transport my dog (its a mut, but think mini-Labrador, 35lbs, see pic below). A cage is too big to put in the backseat (or the one i have is) so right now i dont have any method besides letting her sit freely in the car.

I know putting down tons of blankets will protect the leather on the seats, but does anyone have any suggestions about what to do about the door panels? She's the type to be hyper inside a car, so she wont sit still, and I'm assuming everything in our cars will scratch up easily.

Maybe i should just knock her out with benedryl? haha...

So, please, share some tips dog owners!

I used a soft crate to transport my young hyper bull terrier all the way to Maine, worked great. Found one at a local pet store for about $80, just find one that fits your back seats and dog.

how long a drive is it?

soft crate looks to be your best bet. A little beer wouldn't hurt either...

Dogs can also get motion sickness. Dramamine or Benadryl will help with that too. Last thing you want is dog vomit in the back seat.
