Headlight goes off!! light bulb or ballest?
I just hv a question, my left headlight goes off for no reason sometime while driving, after i turn it off and turn it back on again, it works a while then back to the same. anyone hv same issue? I check w/ Lexus, but forgot what they told me, so just want to see if anyone knows is it the light bulb problem or the ballest? and if is the light bulb, can i just change the light bulb to fix that problem? or i hv to go back to Lexus to fix it?

This has been discussed numerous times if you care to use the search button. Swap bulbs and that will tell you if it's the bulb. My passenger side went out, and I swapped with the drivers side bulb. The passenger side still did not work. Hence...bad ballast. The dealer doesn't change just the ballast. They replace the entire assembly. It cost around $1200+. I had mine replaced under my extended warranty. You can purchase just the ballast on Ebay for around $50 if that's what's bad. Or the entire headlight on Ebay for around $150 or so. If it's not the bulb and you either change headlight or ballast, you have to remove the front bumper to gain access...

Had the exact problem with my 2008 Avalon Touring driver side. My mechanic switched the bulb from Driver to passenger and passenger side is now flickering. Ordered two Philips D4R from Amazon.com last week at $55 each should arrive this week.
You can get the Denso ballasts from hidconcept.com for pretty cheap too.

Here is a youtube video on how to change the ballast on IS250/350. Looks a PITA.

Had that problem before myself. In my case it was my right side headlight. I changed out the oem bulbs for some phillips 6000k and I have not had any problems going on about a year now.

i have the same problem. turn them off then on...they work again until i notice them go out. its annoying. in this instance its kind of hard to diagnose the problem because i have had this issue on both sides therefore swapping wont help. i dont understand why turning them off then on solves the problem momentarily. anyone have any insight?
