Default New to the Lexus family

I purchased my first Lexus a few weeks ago. It is a 2007 IS-350 with 30,000 miles on it now. I was just looking for any tips, pointers or general knowledge on this new addition. It is in the shop getting service done and a few warranty items fixed but doesnt have any mods on it. Just looking for some performance boosts and maybe update the radio to navigation. Thanks for the help!

welcome to CL! performance boost is pretty much limited for IS. you can get a clear bra to protect your investment... it's a decent start!

The performance upgrades are pretty much limited to intake and exhaust. You can go suspension, and appearance. I personally have the F-sport exhaust, Joe-Z intake and I think that is a nice combination.

If you bought the car to mod for more power you bought the wrong car.

There's almost nothing worth doing for performance on the 2IS.

Intake: $125-400 for 5 hp max. (Joe Z being the $125 intake for the same 5hp as any of the others)

Exhaust: Legal exhausts there's a bunch of axle-backs between $600-1200 that all add the same 7 hp. Illegal there's the Joe Z for around $1500 that adds 10.

Headers: PPE makes headers (also not legal in any state) for around $700ish I think that add about 15-20 hp.

And that's it.

(other than nitrous if you're up to running it)

For handling- get the F-sport sway bars. Easily the best mod you can do to the car. After that if the handling still isn't good enough you can consider stuff like springs/shocks or coilovers that'll all have more (negative) impact on ride quality than the sways will.

You've come to the right place! I've had my '06 350 since last Aug (had 30k at the time but I've put another 10 since I've owned it - what can I say? I love to drive it!)

Everything you ever wanted to know about your car is in these forums. Just use the "Search" feature and ask away (tip: limit the queury to just "2IS" to get best results.)

My favorite feature - Nav Hack! (too bad you don't have stock Navi )

And best easy mod as Kurtz said is F-sport rear sway bar. Or Joe-Z intake but I'm still waiting on mine...

Enjoy your car!

You can splice some wires to make your ML Nav play DVD's.

Welcome new guys. You'll love your car whatever you do.
