Default Engine problem last night please help!

On my way home from a hangout last night around 2am, just as i got on the highway, the engine light starts to blink with a message "Check VSC", at the moment i was going 90km. So i stepped on the gas and there was little acceleration, i couldn't go past 95km, I stepped on the gas a little more(now at 4900rpm) and still little acceleration. I took the next exit and stopped at gas station, the car was really shaky, and the exhaust didnt sound right before i turned the car off. After waiting a couple minutes, i start it back up the engine light was gone, the car felt like it was back to normal but not quite, Something is definitely wrong, i never experience anything like this. Please help me out guys! my car will be going in for service asaP! thanks

Random misfire possibly... only way to be sure if get the computer scanned to read the code.

Both the CEL and VSC lights came on? Could be anything from a loose connection to a problem with the VSC/ABS (that will restrict engine power).

Keep an eye on it and have the code checked at Autozone (the lexus dealer will charge you around $100 - Autozone will do it for free).

When my VSC came on, I shut the engine and it went off. Then it came back on and would not go off. Some said to tighten the gas cap (did not work). In the end, the Dealer said it was carbon build up and got it cleaned. If your car shudders at idle sometimes, this could be it.

Trip to the dealer is warranted, unless it is something simple you won't be able to fix it.

I think it is carbon buildup too

check the thread on the carbon buildup problem associated with direct injection engines in general

The thread talks about some places that offer a variant of the cleaning that Lexus will do. If you are under warranty though, then definitely take it to lexus for the free cleaning. It takes a few hours and is not cheap.

Thing is, it is not a fix. The design of the engine is what is causing it and it will eventually need to be done again.

edit: now that I've read your post again, people talk about dropping rpms and such after getting off the highway when the car comes to a stop at a light. The fact that it happened getting on the highway may mean a misfire. The techs will look up the code and go from there. I don't think you need to bring up the carbon buildup unless you experience some of the things the others are experiencing, just be aware that the issue exists...
