My EX dropped here Nissan fob into a bucket of mop water and she just used a hair dryer to dry it up. Still worked fine, but the battery needed replacing soon after this.

Just be glad you didn't grab the brown fob out of the toilet instead of the black one.

Default Thanks!!!

Thanks everyone for the replies! I got lots of tips and heard some things I didn't even think of...I even heard a few things I dont wanna think of again...(lil4cyl)

So I pulled it out of the bag of rice and went outside to test. Everything seems to be working fine and I even did the unlock/roll down all windows/sunroof feature just for the hell of it. All is well and I will be sure to check my pockets for key fobs before taking them near water.

I never thought they would be waterproof. I think it's great if the really are waterproof...but they are so spendy that I would rather not push it.

Oh..BTW...the toilet happened to be "clean" Thank GOD!!!

Haha, gross. If the water wasn't clean I would've bought another FOB and use the other one for emergencies or something

definitely water resistance!! my friend shoved me off his yacht as a joke and my fob was in the pocket.. swam in the water for at least 5 minutes and the fob is still perfect!

Hey...not that I don't believe you guys who are saying you can swim with the fob etc....but I did call the dealership and ask if it's documented anywhere that it's waterproof or even resistant for that matter. The technician quickly said no...they are not waterproof/resistant and we are pretty lucky that they still work. I'm just thankful that I received a backup fob just in case this one goes on the fritz!

I don't think anyone here has gone in the water or put their fob in the washer because they thought water resistant means water proof, but this seems like a case where the piece of equipment was over engineered.

mine has gone through the wash at least 3 times and it still works perfect. Popped it open each time and it was dry inside.

When you put it back together, make sure everything lies flat...if you kink the rubber gasket, the next time it hits water may not work out so well.
