Default 2010 Lexus IS250 Gas pedal Recall question

Hey guys,

I remember seeing a few write up's on this a long time ago. i tried searching but no luck.

I just received a letter from lexus saying i should bring my car in for a new gas pedal. I booked the appointment for tomorrow.

Im just wondering if there is anything i should look out for or ask. I think i read before that some members asked for the pedals to be upgraded to sport pedals.

it would be nice to get sport pedals or something of a upgrade while im there.

Thanks

as far as i know based on my buddy who is working as a service tech at lexus, they will just grind the lower part of your pedal first to make a better clearance with your matings specially if you're using a couple of mats.if you are not satisfied with the way they modify it,complain and that's the only time the will replace it with a shorter pedal which they call a sport pedal.i still haven't replaced my pedal.they will insist to repair or replaced it due to safety issue.were nothing to loose.good luck

On the IS the pedal pad is always replaced. On the ES the pedal is a plastic assembly and the pedal pad cannot replaced, so they are modifying it.

Slippery? Really? Have had my IS350 with sport pedals for almost five years and never felt they were slippery.

my sport pedals aren't slippery and i live in a city known for being rainy.

i also asked for no brake override when they did the recall.

Have you tried wearing shoes when you drive?

But yeah- 3.5 years of ownership with sport pedals- only time my foot ever slipped on the pedal was one time when I was socks and had to run outside and move the car (don't ask)

did they need to remove the front bumper to fix this issue?

for some reason when i got my car back from this recall fix.

i can see that my front bumper wasn't attached back properly.

i dn't know if it was when i brought it in for this issue. or my headlight issue.

Even if they replaced the gas pedal with the sport one you would still have all the other ones normal lol.... when its really wet outside my foot has slipped off the pedal when I initally entered the car with these sport pedals.
