Default perforated leather seat tearing.

My 2010 IS250 that I bought (new) last august 2010 with now about 5500 miles on her is started to show unusual wear. The perforated leather seats are starting to tear. Please see pics for details. IT is cleary noticable to the naked eye. Is this under warranty? Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks for you reply in advance.

P.S. No, the pics were not taken by a microscope.

Check the jeans that you wear when you get in the car.

No matter the quality of leather, if you have metal buttons/designer jeans stuff youll tear the leather.

i stopped wearing a pair of jeans i had with metal buttons on the back because i noticed a wear spot early on.

cheers

No, I was careful wearing jeans with rivets, keys etc. I knew that they will rub against the leather so I avoided those type of pants. And no I am not a fat ***, so its not my weight. I am up for my 5000mile service so i was wondering if its under warranty to get fixed/replaced.

Bring it in to your dealer... they'll have to prove to you that it was NOT a defect in the leather to deny your warranty.

If you have it happening in other areas such as passenger seats or in the rear seats, then you'll have a better shot.

I'm sure they are gonna try to pin it on you. But you also can bring it up that the car is still new.

Good luck...

Good luck with this. Is it only on your drivers seat?

Mostly drivers seat. Some on front passanger seat. Even though I know the leather is delicate, I didnt think it would be this delicate. I might have to drive naked now...

Is it only happening on seat bottoms, or perhaps also on the seat backs?

Does the IS come with aniline (or semi-aniline) leather? I know the LS and SC does for sure, but not sure about the models across the range.

And is it just YOUR seat or even the front/rear passenger's seat?

My understanding is that it is semi-aniline.

It is the bottom of mostly the drivers seat. Some on the passenger seat, but not much.
