same thing i was thinking... that is way you pay premiums
yeah comprehensive claim for sure ....
dont worry about the premium going up bro no insurance company by law can raise your rates for a comprehensive claim... that is something out of your control... only points and at fault accidents . my last girl friend was a claims adjuster for geico. only time you will get looked at for comp claims is if you keep having crazy stuff happen... but if this is the first one or even 3rd or 4th use the insurance instead and get it done right cause the dealer will warranty it.

i own a bodyshop and the "stealership" just wants more money for their pocket, that door can be easily repainted, and just tell whatever bodyshop your taking it to to blend in the other panels.

Depending on the autobody estimate you get, if it's gonna be $500 or $600, doesn't make much sense to even go through your insurance company if you have a $500 deductible as it is.

Whether you decide to use insurance or not, make sure the body shop you go to offers "lifetime warranty" on their work. It's warranty against fading, peeling, etc for as long as you own the car.
Also, look into zero-deductible comprehensive coverage for the future. The difference in premium will be very small, likely less than $100/year.

yeah definitely use the insurance. Comprehensive claims CANNOT go against you to raise your rates. I mean, youve already paid for the insurance right? so use it and let them repaint whatever it is they think needs repainting.

Damn! Sorry this happened to you. Not sure if you did this yet, but I'd refrain from washing the car or even having anyone do anything to it till you take it to the shop. Idiots who like to key sometimes leave fingerprints, which may help. But whoever did this really did a number from the pic. It won't come back to the same level of paint, as some have mentioned, after fading and the such, but it'll be pretty darn close. People need to stop hating on others' rides and quit it with the keying.
