Help! Is350 starts without key in proximity
I just bought a 2008 IS350 from auction. I can start this car without having the key anywhere around it. Usually the message center will display "key not detected" and you cannot start the car. This leads me to believe the keys are in the car. I have searched every nook and cranny and cannot find them. They are not in the car nore do I have a spare anywhere around the car to make it start. Has this ever happened to anyone and does anyone have a solution?

So if you step on the brake pedal, does the Start Button turns green? Can you open the door without the keyfobs.
Hmmm... If there is a key in our car, it should be within the sensor range. If I remember correctly, it's a small range where the keyfob antenna receiver detects upon. If my wife puts her purse in the backseat, the car won't start.
Check the around front seats, perhaps it's stuck the side... or maybe the previous owner my have dropped it inside the center console, and was unable to reach it.
Also, did you check the sunglass holder?

turns green and wont let me lock it because it thinks the key is in the car. I can drive it. Checked sunglass holder, took off side panels thinking the auction is playing a prank. There are no keys in the car! Crazy!

Auction mailed me one key, manuals, and shifter ****. The car came off the transport with no keys in it and there are not under the hood.

Check under the seats, they may be hanging from the seat springs or up in the wires.
Wait. Doesn't the transport NEED the keys in order to steer it straight and/or be able to unlock the steering wheel and get it into neutral in order to move the car off of the transport? I believe they most certainly do. Call transport company and ask them where they usually plant the key upon delivery. Or have the auction place do the footwork.

I concur the keys are in the car. I lost my keys in the car for 2 days. I went nuts. I took a mirror and looked everywhere. They were way down between the passenger seat and console leaning on the rail. I couldn't see them with the black carpet. Without the mirror I would have spent a few more days looking.
