question about low oil light

should i just do a compression test to find out whats wrong?

that should solve my issue shouldn't it?

I'd say get a compression test done to rule out any other possibilities.

Let us know if you come across anything abnormal.

Compression check only tells you the condition of the piston rings and valves. It doesn't tell you the oil pressure.

Check the oil level, if its full, check the oil pressure with an oil pressure gauge, if thats good, check the sending unit connector if its loose or corroded. If everything checks out your, you have a faulty oil pump. I would also double check the oil filter it might be clogged.
