Default Thinking of selling my 2008 IS350

EDIT: Looks like I am going to have to sell my car.

Here's the ad if anyone is interested.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...xus-is350.html

I'm searching for a white or red 2000+ Celica GTS with a 6spd manual. Once I find the car, I will be asking/selling the Lexus for 29,000 the way she sits or 28,000 without the intake/exhaust/spacers/swaybar/chassis bar. look for a for sale post shortly :O(

Hey Guys,

I might be selling my 2008 IS350 in the very near future and curious to see what the going prices are. I was thinking around 24-25k.

I am the original owner and the car is garage kept with no dings, dents or scratches. The car has around 28k miles and the options it has is HID lights, 18 inch wheels and heated cooled seats with birds eye maple trim which I covered up with the carsons CF kit. The mods are minimal, you can see those down below in my signature. I hate to see her go, but due to unforseen financial obligations, she must go, unless the judge goes easy on me.

Thanks.

You can get at least 25k for that.

Thanks! good to know that.... I noticed 350's are somewhat hard to to come by, so that should help me out when the time comes to sell her.

I did a quick search on the KBB site and this is what the Private party value is:

Vehicle Condition RatingsCheck Vehicle Title History Excellent
$30,535

Looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning.
Never had any paint or body work and is free of rust.
Clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection.
Engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects.
Complete and verifiable service records.
Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.

I'm totally shocked that Lexus cars hold their value really well.

Are you looking to sell private party or trade in?

I would recommend listing the car for sale on eBay Classifieds, Craigslist, and CL (as well as any other Lexus forums you read). All of these are free, as opposed to Autotrader or Cars.com which are paid. I recently sold a car and listed on all the above free sites as well as Cars.com (ad was $55). I got no hits from Cars.com, but got 20 hits or more from the free sites. So try out the free sites before spending money on a paid ad, and keep in mind even then the free ads will still garner more interest. Especially for a car like yours which has mods that would be appreciated and sought after by CL members, for example.

As far as price, I would say 24-25 is low considering it's low mileage and is still under factory warranty. Also, the used car market is very, very strong right now, so you're in a good position to price up.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think KBB takes into account warranty status, nor does it take into account the value of mods. The mods are less pertinent here, since it could be a help or hurt - some buyers might pay more for a car with mods, some might pay less because they want a stock car. But the warranty is a huge benefit to any buyer.

I'd probably put it out on the free sites for ~$29k, that way you can say it's below KBB (and it's more than you were looking to get anyway). Then gauge interest and take the price down if need be. I doubt you'll have to though.

Good luck!

I'd say that $27-28k would be a good starting point for wheeling and dealing. Sounds like the car is mint, so you should have no issues selling it.

BTW, remove the mods. Modifications on such a vehicle will only detract from it's actual value.

GLWS!

(most) mods generally don't add much/any to the value of the car.

This is why so many folks switch theirs back to stock before selling and then sell the after-market parts. That's certainly what I intend to do with mine... couple hours in my garage to swap the intake, exhaust, and sways back and it won't change the sales price but I can probably get an extra $1000 for the various parts I swap off.

I'd disagree with the notion "no" used car is in excellent condition though. If that were true the category wouldn't exist for used cars. Most certainly aren't, but some are. (mine is for example, but I'm kinda **** with my cars)

But yeah, how well the 350 holds value is part of why I decided to get the 8 yr warranty on mine and hold onto it for a while... Long as I keep the miles relatively low I'm not losing much hanging onto it an extra few years, and I'll still get to sell it with a year left of "full" warranty when it's 7 yrs old.
