I prefer LEDs... since I haven't come into a situation that AFS was useful for me. I don't drive on mountain roads where there are a lot of big turns.

edit oops

Is this a 2006-2010 vs 2011+ headlight comparison thread? The first post is a little vague. LED for Low beams?
AFS is the Adaptive Front Lighting System that can be enabled or disabled.
Comparing LED to AFS is like apples to oranges.

LED vs HID, LED has a ways to go but I can see in the future LED technology being brighter and having a longer lamp life.
AFS is a safety feature to improve visibility.
They probably improved overall projection on the headlamps on the '11 so they could remove the AFS motors that pan the light.

But between the two generation of headlights, I like the LED DRLs.

LED = every new car is coming out with LED and in europe its law that all cars have led drl from a bugatti to a VW Polo. They do look nice.

AFS = not every car has it and when you tell people you have it you get the ooh/ahh cool factor, for the AFS guys you can always add aftermarket leds *easily* under the housing for a more custom look. Can't add AFS to the newer headlights without some major modifications *i assume*.

AFS is no longer an option from '11 and on models.

I'm glad you brought up this topic, it's been one of those differences I've noticed between my own IS and new 2011 models. I'll be upfront, I hate the new 2011 headlights. To be fair the LED's are cool, but that doesn't make up for the terrible inner design of the headlamp. The turn signal housing is offensive to my eyes with it's many boxy angles and frosted look un-befitting a luxury sport sedan. The dual yellow turn signal in 2010 below is much more appealing and very unique. The black housing on the 2011 is ok but I'm one of the few that actually likes the chrome. I also enjoy my AFS thank you very much. Overall I just think pre 2011 headlights look cleaner and classier. I may get some haters but hey looks are subjective and I'm damn proud

Dual turn signal ex.
