So, I am taking my car in on Tuesday afternoon to get my 08 IS350 valve spring recall done finally. My car is getting somewhat near to needed an oil change. I am trying to decide if I should have them go ahead and change it while it is in the shop and save me sometime or should I wait. With doing the recall is their a chance debris will get down into the engine after running for a short period of time? If so would it be better to wait a short period of time and then have the oil changed?
Maybe I'm just over thinking this, but I'm pretty worried about having this recall done.

they put in new oil and fill your gas tank for you when you get the valve spring recall done. If anything, you can get them to change the filter for you or if you are worried about stuff that may get caught, just change the filter yourself after you get it done then top up your oil.
I didn't do anything when I brought it in for the recall, just changed the oil and filter after 5000km instead of 8000km

Dont do it, they'll have to do it to complete the repair.
worried about debris?
No need to worry, expecially if youre still under powertrain warranty.
Mine were replaced. Total bill was $4,000ish . some 26+ hours of labor which at 145/hr is pricey.
i paid ZERO

Yeah its upper end but id roll the dice, you might find that they changed your oil free of charge

Actually, an oil change is not needed during the procedure if it is done right, so don't assume you will get one. I told them to do an oil change and filter on my car when they did the recall. It's up to you, but don't assume anything. I pay for oil changes with points from my Lexus Visa card so it costs me nothing anyway.

Im a tech(DS) in a Lexus dealership. I start doing those recall since they came out. No. They do not change your oil with the Campaign. All the parts Lexus will pay for come in a box about the size of your air filter. It don't come with oil. I always treat customer's car like my own. So, I do anything to keep thing fall inside. But if you worry about dirt/sand getting inside. Then take the top engine cover off and pressure wash the engine really well(specially around the valve covers). That way, you know dirt won't get inside. You can try to ask for the shop's DS to perform this campaign on you ride.

They do not change the oil. I waited till I was about at the changing point, had the re-call preformed and then changed my oil the next day, just to make sure that if any dirt got in I got it out right away.
