I bought my IS250 myself. I worked at the same company i work for now throughout the last 2 years of college. Before i graduated, they offered me a bonus to stay onboard after graduation and offered me a guaranteed salary too. With the job market the way it was, i took the bonus and the job offer. Plus, i love where i work, so there was no reason for me to really look around elsewhere besides maybe for higher pay.

I bought the car in Jan, financed it myself through the Lexus College Graduate program at 0.9% APR for 48 months, the program REALLY helps graduates. I had a really good credit history before buying the car, but if you don't, the program gets you a good rate even with a limited credit history, as long as its not bad.

I pay for everything on my own. My car, gas, insurance, servicing, student loans, credit cards, food etc. I don't remember the last time i asked my parents for money.. My parents did give me a little money towards the down payment (graduation gift) tho, but i declined to having them buy the car for me - which i could have done. Its just that i like living independant, its taught me a lot and i respect my possesions and spend much more wisely than ever before. I feel bad for those that still live off mom and dad despite having enough money to live on their own.

My advice: If you just graduated, and you can afford a used lexus, buy a CPO from a Lexus Dealer. You can find some really great deals, and through the college program you'll pay low interest too. It's much smarter than buying a new one if your a recent graduate.

I'm 25 and I pay for my IS all by me lonesome... started the Lexus game when I was 21. can't wait till I get a cougar to cash out untill then ill keep makin the payments and hopin I can stop trading em in.

So you had an RX when you were 16? Stab in the dark but the parents helped you out with that? I had a '66 VW Bug as my first car back when I was 16. My dad loaned me $500 of the $1500 it cost and I had to pay him back in 3 months. It was a 24 year old car when I bought it in '90. Blew up the engine a month into it. Had pretty much replaced everything in it before it got stolen 18 months later. No insurance. 20 years and 5 cars later I'm finally able to afford an IS. And I would love to have another '60s ish VW Bug as a side project but no time for that at the moment. Great way to learn about cars and parts are super cheap.

Bought my 07 is350 for my 25th birthday. I pretty much saved for a year (that's determination) to give a big downpayment. My first 2 cars were vans, gift from parents. My first "real" car was an rsx type-s which ofcourse in nyc got stolen. And now I love my IS. 3 years I plan on getting a C63 god willing.

23 - bought my 2010 250 new on my own. put a fat down so my payments are low.

You also have to keep in mind a lot of young adults these days still live at home with their parents. Having no rent payment goes a long way.

Jumped in the military at age 17 and the deployments help stack money for those who can save it. I got my IS300 at 19 and still have it (it's paid off) and since 2008, I was medically discharged and have been contracting in Iraq since. The job sucks, money is F'n great. I'm 25 now and just bought me a used 2007 IS350 with 43 miles on it last week all paid off. I Took a shared secure loan out for 20k on the car and made a separate account just to pay it off and help build my credit score. No help from parents on the car purchases for this guy

I also believe if you have to finance, keep looking for a better deal.

22 years old, graduated undergraduate school, bought a new 2010 IS250 a month later just as I started my job. I had enough money from earlier internships to throw down a 10K down payment. A year later, I've got enough money to pay off the rest of the loan... which I might do soon.
I had originally wanted to buy a 370Z, but my parents insisted that I have 4 seats so that I could take them around if they visited me. I'm considering trading in the IS for a Z, but to be honest the IS has really grown on me.

i almost got one for my 18th birthday but my dad seem to have listen to my mom more then what i wanted something about being spoiled kids?. but hey a is250 is still good for a birthday present I am 20 now btw so i had it for 2 years now. i only pay for gas everything else is covered by my parents. car is fully paid for, my parents don't believe in loans cash is the way to go

My parents got me a used '07 IS350 a few months back when I turned 18. They paid for the car and my self-employment pays for everything else. They insisted on a new Honda Civic for me but a used IS350 or 335i was just a little more. All the horror stories about BMW's reliability, especially the 335i scared me away from them and went with the Lexus instead.

Like many sub-25 y.o. owners, I had some help from the parentals.

They gave me a 1996 accord midway through high school (2003, i'm 23 right now), I totalled that car back in July of last year.

I shopped around hard, for a couple months, paid my dues by driving around a 1998 Toyota Sienna. Was looking at used 335i 's or IS-Fs, but couldnt justify the mediocre reliability/fuel pump issues of the 335 (this would be my daily driver) and the expensive maintenance/insurance of the IS-F.

So with the payout from my accord, along with a small graduation gift from the parents, bought a new 2010 IS350. Still will be paying $600/mo for the next 5 years.

I do have a full time job now, and do pay for my own expenses/live by myself. Except for my cell phone, its so much cheaper to be on a family plan =)

2006 IS350 bout my car cash after HS when I turned 18 almost a year now.didn't have anyhelp from my parents I stumbled into my money a different way lol I got hit by a car when I was 14 and got ALOT! of money just couldn't touch it till I was 18 lol
