I've done all types of systems on my car for looks , sound & spl . Its all on if you need spacer or dont care about it and what type of music you listen to. here a some pics in the past 6 months

I just did an Alpine 600watt, (i know this sounds nuts) but I have a sony xplod 1100watt and a Alpine type r 1800 watt in seperate seal boxes bridged. It sounds good and I have the gain 1/4 turned up. Trust me, it's loud enough not to overbear the stock speakers.
