Default Appreciated Feedback

Hey Mo,
Appreciate your post about your 06 IS250, Im right there with you at 195k literally just replaced the transmission, rear axle is the next to charge but after any type of rattling is apparent. Ive had most recalls taken care of and pistons/water pump & over heating have been addressed. Are you gonna take advantage of the dash recal coming early this new year? Oh were thinking of updating the front bumper to a 12 face-lift feedback...not worth it due to cost? (Opinion) Thanks

I just bought a 2007 is250 Premium model, mint condition, 89k mi. One previous owner. Previous owner took her in every 5k like clockwork to Lexus dealer for all scheduled maintenance up until 85k when I bought it. Runs absolutely perfect, I mean perfect! No carbon build up issue ever. This is my only concern (just because she seems too good to be true). So if anyone has any recommendations on how to avoid cbu, please let me know.

Thanks!

Carbon buildup is a function of direct fuel injection. Not a lot you can do about it - it's a design flaw. Short urban trips are worse than long high rpm trip.

Ok so everyone says i cant do anything about carbon build up issue. Well, I am a fighter, and so here is my plan with my beautiful 2007 is250 that has 89k miles and runs perfectly with never a carbon build up issue...yet:
1) I change oil and filter myself using high quality filter and full synthetic high quality 5w30 oil every 5k miles.
2) Use only premium unleaded Chevron or Shell (in California our gas sucks, but I am told they are they best we can get out here)
3) Throw a can of seafoam or Chevron Techron, etc. in the full gas tank once in a while
4) Dont drive it like an old man (which I kinda am feeling like at 56 lol), and dont be afraid to redline it after it is warmed up and/or to "burn the carbon out" by gettin on it out in the country. I commute to work 30 miles and can take the back roads out in the wide open flatland's where i can get her up to a nice burnin speed. One guy said this about the is250, "a redline a day keeps the mechanic away"
5) I have purchased a cheap $9 borescope on ebay that is amazingly high quality for so cheap. I bought new intake valve cover gaskets and when they arrive, I am going to remove my intake valve cover and carefully insert my borescope and inspect the tops and stems of the intake valves (which is where the cbu issue occurs). If I see they are clean, I will continue to steps 1, 2, 3, and possibly a little of 4 above. if they're dirty...Plan B...

Default Totally cool, and I agree. Love this car.

I have a 2006 IS250 too, and love it.

I'm at about 120,000 miles, and everything is fine. It really hasn't required much maintenance at all, and I do regular oil changes.
I do the air filters myself now, and am doing the cabin filter and some detailing on Saturday.
Question: what wipers to you like? I'm here in Florida now, and when it rains, it really comes down. I need to replace what I have. What brand and (if you know the size, if not, I'll check at Advanced Auto Parts).

Congratulations, and thanks so much.

All I have done is oil changes with MOBIL 1 full synthetic, replace the brakes every 50,000, replace O2 sesnor, 120,000 mile tune up, and replaced A/C compressor. I did not go by the Lexus Preferred Maintenance program. Now obviously with this many miles issues will come up, such as the transmission is starting to slip, rear axles are knocking, overheating if sitting in idle for more than 15 minutes in 100 degree heat and that's about it. It is still smooth in idle when in most cars when you hit 100,000+ miles you have to replace the motor mounts. I have modded my car with exhaust, rims, and slammed 4 inches off the ground. All in all if my car was to break down on me today I would walk away with a smile knowing that coming from a Mercedes C230 5 years ago with 120,000 miles that in the end had to be towed away from a couple of thousand dollars. I am a lifelong Lexus customer.

Don't get the wipers from auto parts stores. They're a waste and doesn't look or function as good as OEM. You only need to replace the rubber pieces that are worn out, not the whole wiper blade.

Get parts # 85214-0E140 and 85214-0T040 for $7 each from a Toyota dealer or online. You can pull out the old rubber inserts with pliers and re-insert it with the metal blades in 10 minutes like the youtube video. The guy took the blade off the car, but you don' have to.
