Default quick- $800 for my dealer to do....

2 front new rotors, front brakes and rear brakes...they offer warranty on it etc etc.

They came down from their original quote of over a grand once i told them I could do it at firestone for around 650 (with aftermarket parts though).

Now I know I could do this on my own but id rather have a shop do it since I dont have the time nor the tools. Is this a fairly decent price?

I like the peace of mind and the fact that its on my lexus vin info for resale.

Sounds like a ripoff to me compared with brake prices for other cars, but I would never go to a dealer for a brake job anyway so I'm not the one you want to listen to.

Parts alone will cost you just over $300 so and extra $500 on labor forget that. Save that $500 and buy yourself a set of nice tools, DIY, and you still have plenty of money left over.Unless you work 24/7 you always have time for a 1hr job. As for it on your resale just keep your receipt and catalog everything you do. Cause that extra $500 you spend doesnt mean you getting back in resale value. Buyer will still low ball you regardless.

^----- +1000000

just because they went from absurd pricing to ridiculous pricing doesnt mean you should go for it. Lexus doesnt cover wear parts under warranty anyway so just take it to Firestone if you dont have the knowledge or time to do it yourself.

Yeah that is a lot. I got my fronts and rears done with my gift card and only paid $480. I would have done it myself but this was free thanks to the gift card

Lexus charged me $200 for front pads and rotor turning. Not too bad of a price. For everyone saying it's "wayy to much" and "screw lexus" go look at the price to do brakes on a 335 or 330. EASILY $1200-$1300. This is a luxury car.

Honestly, it depends on the dealer. Just like how some charge 50 bucks for an oil change while others charge over 100. I don't know why prices are so random when it comes to Lexus dealerships. I've been to a couple of toyota dealerships and the price for an oil change was roughly the same, about 40 bucks.

order your pads and rotors from sewell

$318.23 is wha it would cost for front rotors, with front and rear pads shipped to tampa

My first question is are you sure you actually need rotors?

because shops are pretty notorious for upselling folks to a new set of rotors when all they need is a $65-100 set of pads that take like 30 minutes to put on.

Midas used to say 'you need a new master cylinder', even if you DIDN'T NEED ONE!

$800 is hella expensive for brakes.

Sewell Price for everything shipped with the CL discount is about $325.

So you'd be paying over $475 for labor. I would just by the tools myself and do it, or take it to any good independent mechanic and ask them to do the labor. On my old car i supplied all the parts and got labor for all the rotors and pads replaced and had the brake fluid flushed (Supplied own brake fluid too) for under $250 i believe, with 1 year warranty on the labor.

It depends on what the dealer is offering you. A lot of dealerships give away "free" loaners/wifi/food/drinks/ etc and some have really expensive building overheads to pay and have really nice looking waiting areas for service. But as you probably know...nothings ever free though, you pay for all that "free" stuff in your services. Of course there are some dealers that just like to price gouge cuz people seem willing to cough it up! lol

Of course its "overpriced" its a dealership. Always expect it to cost a lot more. Always. Unless you know someone in service that can give you a good price. They go by the book.
