Default Problem Starting...Need Help Please

hey i was wondering if someone could help me out. A few weeks ago, i began to notice that my 06 is250 had a problem starting. Before it started, I could just step the brake/push the ignition button and it would start right up.

A few weeks ago I noticed that I now have to hold the brake down and the button until the car starts.

Now, sometimes it will try to start, but then cut out. If I hold the ignition button down longer, it eventually fires up. It sounds like it cranks fine, just not enough power to start. I checked the battery voltage and it's reading 12.8v.

I usually get this problem when the car has been sitting for a while. Haven't had a chance to check the voltage from a cold start. Once the car starts, it runs fine.

Is this a battery/ignition/spark or fuel problem? My car has 24k miles on it.

any help would greatly be appreciated...thanks!

'06 with 24k miles? You need to get out more! =) 12.8v's is fine but you need a lot more cranking power to get the car started. I'd bet good money the battery is going out if it hasn't been replaced yet.

If it's the original battery, then you need a new one!!

^^^ lol i think it might be on the original battery. Bought it with 13k miles on it a year and a half ago. Don't see any of his records of a battery replacement.

Well my car has been sitting for 8 hours now so imma have my dad watch the voltages now and when it cranks to see if there's any problems. i'll get back to you guys on what the results are...thanks!
