Headlight Lexus trouble
My headlights will turn off on their own. but when i turn them off and back on they stay on.
well this was the case for both now one died completely (won't even turn back on) but the other still acts up.
the lexus dealer said to replace both bulbs.. but if one still turns on after turning off, then how is that burnt out?
basically they're wanting $750 to replace but I wanted to see if you guys have a better way to approach this? thanks much

If the issue is just the bulbs, then it should cost you about $300 for 2 OEM HID bulbs, or $100 for a pair of good aftermarket ones. There's no labor cost involved, because you should do this yourself - takes 30 minutes the first time, tops. There's a DIY in the 2IS FAQ.
To determine if it's the bulbs, swap them and test.
If the issue is something else, like ballasts, then it should be covered by warranty. If you're out of warranty, then I'd search CL for a DIY on changing the ballast - not sure if that exists.

I have the same problem with my passenger side headlight! It will be on when I start driving, then at some point it turns off (I will usually notice in the reflection behind another car or something) and if I turn them off and back on again they will both work again. I'm getting it looked at this week but let me know what you find out!!

There is another thread about this same issue. Some people are reporting that the bulb replacement fixed the issue while others are saying they had to replace the ballast. You should try replacing the bulbs first and then go from there. If you do need to replace the ballast you can get them on ebay. I've seen them going for under $100 each on there. Don't let the dealer "rape" you if you are out of warranty. You can do each of these replacements easy yourself.
