Both of them are extremely nice. I would pick the G among these two.

G all the way, especially with the discount you are getting. In your situation, G25 with nav and sport package FTW

I've considered a pre-owned IS250 but have not been able to secure a 2010 (not willing to go 2009 or older) Smokey Granite w/ Black Interior + Nav with less than 20k miles. I've actually been checking this every other day too!

Thanks again everyone for the feedback. I think the deciding factor will ultimately be price. I want to spend under $40k out the door but if I can get the Lexus for $1000 less than the G37, that may sway me towards the IS250. I subjectively don't like the G37 because it's a bit "big" for a sporty car and see them EVERYWHERE. That would mean the IS250 would have to be $36900 - $1000 Loyalty Incentive = $35900. I think with the Lexus supply issues (they have the color I want in stock locally but in low #'s), I might be struggling to get under $38000.

At any rate, I'll test drive them on Sunday (already driven the IS250 non F-Sport a few times and loved it) and who knows, maybe I'll end up loving the G37's ride.

I am curious as to why you are comparing g37 instead of g25? It is hard to just say "power doesn't matter" when you are talking about a 100hp difference, they are in different classes all together. Wouldn't you be able to get the g25 and all the goodies and still be comfortably under your price?

One other question, how would you get the $1k Lexus loyalty if you are coming from a Civic? You have to own a Lexus to get that incentive.

With that said, there is really no comparison between a 250 vs g37. I would get the G37 hands down. The G37 will beat the 250 in every aspect minus the design, which is subjective.

Btw, this thread needs a poll.
^^ This! I came from a G35 they are solid.

I needed a 4door and I liked the IS350's design better. And also my brother is a sales mgr at Lexus, so ya can you say HOOK UP! lol.

I wanted to get the best overall car for money so wanted to group by price rather than raw performance.

The IS250 ultimately ends up around the same price point as a similarly equipped G37. The IS250 with the same add on's: Nav and Premium Pack and the G37 with Nav and Premium Pack are both MSRP at ~$41k. The IS350, however, would be upwards past $45k with the same config.

A good way to think about it is if your Grandma wanted a new car and was willing to pay $40k out the door but wanted the best her money could buy. Which car would you choose for her knowning she has no clue what a horsepower is. You can technically get her the G25 but the G37 is a better value for the money she wants to spend. On the Lexus side, you can get her the IS250 but the IS350 is more than she is willing to spend.

FYI - added a poll

Who the heck pays MSRP? Or anywhere close to it?

Invoice on a base IS350 is 36.6k

Invoice on a base G37s is... 36.9k

For comparison, I paid $41,200 before ttl for 350 f-sport w/ nav, which was about 4k below msrp. So shoot for about 10% off msrp I would say and base your numbers on that.

Was this at a local dealer? (Roswell, Hennesey, S. Atlanta, etc) If I can get the IS250 F-Sport for $41000 MSRP minus 10% = $36900 minus $1000 lexus loyal incentive = $35900 or below, I may lean towards it instead of the $37k G37. Also, I'm afraid with the reduced inventory, it may be harder to negotiate the 10% off MSRP.

Invoice on a RWD automatic IS250 with F-sport package is only $33,992... with a 1k lexus incentive that drops it to just under 33k.

But even MSRP on that car is only $37,980... not sure where you're getting 41k unless you're adding more options to it

F-sport AND nav bumps it to $40,245 MSRP... but still only $36,225 invoice... so about 35k with your 1k off.

The inventory shortage will be over in another couple months if you can afford to wait... prior to that most folks weren't paying much over invoice for 250s from what I was seeing... (and smart shoppers weren't paying much over invoice for 350s either apart from the AWD ones that were brand new this year)

Design of the g37 took a giant step back from the original design of the g35. honestly it looks like an Altima coupe.

This was at Nalley Cumberland, I think it was about $400 or so over invoice. Definitely try to hit invoice when negotiating. Nalley will quote you something just under MSRP and expect you to jump at it. Just give them the number you want to pay, and don't buy it until they hit your number. They will hit it if it is reasonable. I had to say no about 4 times before they got close. I wanted 41000 they eventually came down to 41200 and at that point I was getting tired and wanted my car

But if you have a special discount with Inifiniti, all this is pointless. I still say, if you are stuck on IS250 vs. G37, go with G37.

If it were me, I would say G37(based totally on performance). I've owned a 250 for 2 years, and lets just say I have a 350 now.

But bc you do not value performance and an extra 5k can buy a ring, the OBVIOUS answer is the Lexus.

Edmunds shows a TMV of $37,456 for 250 w/ F-Sport AND Nav. So, try to hit that number, and after 6% tax you are still just-shy to right-at 40K, and you get everything you want.

I forgot to ask about your brand loyalty or preference.. For me, this was my first car that cost more than 18k new, so first forray into entry-lux class. I have always wanted a Lexus. I truly didn't even consider (or even drive) anything else. I was blinded by the badge
