The whole bumper not just the grill has to come off to change the lights.

Yayyyy, i finally got my car back today. the new 2012 lights looks great. i actually prefer the glossy black inside.

The whole bumper comes off, the grille stays on (the bumper), but it would be much easier for them to change the grille with the bumper off. They probably won't charge much to change the grille at the same time, but no the grille is not normally touched when replacing the headlights.

Am I trippin or are they actually brighter?

I think I saw someone on here posting that they are brighter. Did they change the LED part?

UPDATE - Dealer agreed to match Sewell (who I'd buy from if I could get the dealer to install a BYO) and install F-Sport Grille for $56.00 when doing the light replacement. I took a before picture of the bubbling light (at night). I will take an after picture and if different - will post.... Damn, mod bug.

^you paid $50 for them to install the grille?

It's literally a 10 min job... 1 screw, 4 clips.

I thought while they had the bumper off to do the lights - it would easier........I haven't had it done yet, just asked how much they would charge me to do it....

It's super easy. Just follow the DIY (easy to find by searching)...

does anyone has a side by side comparison of the pre-updated headlights with the recalled ones? i curious to know how much "brighter / whiter" are the LED's

^^^ Good call. I am wondering the same thing. I had my headlights replaced and I swear they are brighter and a different color slightly, but I'm curious how they compare.
