2011 Headlamp Bubbling Defect
#361
Well, got my 2012 headlights installed at Santa Monica Lexus today...
Good News:
As everyone else has mentioned, they are greatly improved. Much whiter and brighter, definitely the way the car should have come originally. Loving the gloss black strip, the lights look much more seamless.
Bad News:
The dealership scratched the new head-lights...
I forgot to tell the dealership no wash, and it looks like they dried it with sandpaper. The entire car is scratched from nose to tail, including my tail-lights and the new head-lights they put in today. I have the car professionally waxed once a month, and clay bar/polished/waxed every six months, with bi-monthly hand-washes since new. Basically, the car was immaculate when it went in there. I am really bummed. Even if I can buff out the paint, the lights are heavily scratched as well.
Here's a before and after pic

Would you believe the bubbling has started on my 2012 headlamps? I am shocked and in total disbelief. I installed the replacement set from Sewell about two months ago and it's happening again in the exact same spot.
I'm not sure how to post pictures, so if somebody can explain I'll include a few shots.

I'm a beginniner at all of this so.... I was wondering if I could get my lights replaced. I can't check my car for bubbling for another 2 days.
I got my 2011 IS250 AWD beginning of last year, so Jan 2011. As far as I know, my headlights are not the LED strip one, is that the same as HID?

Ive seen the updated ones bubble also but only the drivers side. Rare. The dealer should replace only the defective light not both if you already have updated lights. A product report would have to be made by dealership to ship back the headlight. It might just be a bad bach. I havent seen any bubbling on 13 gs350 headlights or rx350 yet

I own a 2011 IS350 AWD. Took my car to a Lexus dealer here in Jersey. Now, I have a new set of headlights, and had my alignment done as well as program my windows to roll down when the remote button is pressed. Lexus is great!!!!!

Sorry I never updated everyone. If you remember I emailed Lexus Corporate inquiring about the issue. Well, they emailed me back and here is the jist of (it is a direct copy & paste).
Honestly I'm not sure what I was expecting them to say and this response is pretty much exactly what I would expect. For now I'll probably just watch the bubbling and see how it progresses, next time I am at the dealership I'll let them look at it.
I am very sorry to hear of the bubbling concern that you are having with the headlights on your vehicle. The best way for Lexus to address your concern would be to physically inspect the vehicle at a Lexus dealership. If you have not done so yet, we recommend contacting the Service Department at your Lexus dealership to schedule an appointment. Once the physical inspection has taken place, should you require further assistance, please contact us at the toll free phone number listed below. We cannot guarantee any financial assistance, but we can certainly discuss your concerns by phone. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
