Cruising through the Lexus website I came across this info regarding the powertrain factory warranty :
"Powertrain Warranty
The Powertrain Warranty is for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Except for the situations listed on the Basic Warranty page, this warranty covers repairs needed to fix defects in materials or workmanship of any component listed below:
Engine: Cylinder block and head and all internal parts, timing belt and cover, flywheel, oil pan, water pump, fuel pump, engine mounts, engine control computer, seals and gaskets"
Just an FYI to all those that think they are out of warranty...but if you have a '06 IS or newer with <70k miles you're entitled to a free replacement!
Help this can help someone out there, as this happens ALOT on these vehicles (happened to mine around 27k miles, before I became the new owner).

Good info.
If your already out of warranty when your pump fails, and you've maintained your car well (especially if its been dealer maintained) call corporate and complain. Tell them you've done all the services on time and your disappointed something like this would happen. Corporate will usually do something for you in my experience.
