Default 2011 IS350 USB F Sport - Opinions needed please!!!

Story is my friend and I went into a dealership to purchase 2 cars. He wanted 2011 IS350 in red with F sport package and I wanted the Ultrasonic Blue. They had his color in stock but they didn't have my color. They were willing to locate the car for me though. We were able to negotiate a price of 44k OTD. My friend bought and drove out the car same day. They said when they locate the car, they were willing to honor the same price my friend got it for. Week later, he calls me and said he found one in Wisconsin but I would have to pay for shipping from WI to NJ which he quote $1,900. I told him no way it's too much. I told him maybe I'm willing to go half half but he said they cant. I checked online for shipping from WI - NJ, at most its about $800. What do you guys think I should do? I don't believe I have any leverage here since they don't have it in stock and its not a car they need to get rid of. I have already contacted 20 dealerships from PA.VA.NY.NJ.MD.MA.DE and only 2 other dealerships might get the car in a week but I don't believe I can negotiate for 44k OTD at other places.

Truth is, sometimes when they trade, the other dealership makes them pay for their "adds." Things like window tint, "prep packages," etc. It's not necessarily BS, and if this is the case, your dealership won't want to trade for a car & lose money on it. They prolly just added that cost to the actual cost for shipping, so as to simplify their justification for the increase in price.

Maybe you could try offering to ship it yourself and not through the dealer? (Having the shipping company that quoted you $800 pick it up and bring it to your local dealer)

The other dealers you contacted, will they be charging a delivery fee if they get the car you want? Id find out what other dealers would charge, then get a general price. If it doesnt come close to 44K + 1900 then you should just own up and pay it. Your hands are tied when it comes to color choice and limited availability.

He said he found 4 USB, 3 going to cali and 1 going to WI. but another dealership in MA told me they are getting the car in 2 weeks. I asked him how come another dealership getting it in the east coast and they are not. He claims other place is lying. I might just tell him 45k and see what he says

West coast usually has the upper hand when it comes to cars or parts. I guess its a bigger scene over there.
