that exact same thing happened to my car when I was having an auio shop install my FlyAudio unit, could never find an easy fix for the problem besides getting a whole new dash. luckily found one at a junkyard and the shop paid for everything. should have just done it myself......

straight up, F that shiiiiieet!, Man I would be HEATED!!!, I would definately let this YIK YAK place you took your car know that they will be paying for a new dash because thats the only to get it fixed. AND why the hell you didnt take to lexus to get fixed? SOrry man in this business YOu get what you pay for....I learned that about vehicles at a very young age....dont cut corners you will end up paying twice, one for the F up and one for the professional.

Wow. Sorry to see this happened to your ride. Hopefully they are willing and have insurance or the resources to cover your costs quickly and easily.
I never had anything like this happen to any of my cars at non-dealer shops. Of course I do most work myself and if not I only take my cars to people I know and trust.
If he took it to a random shop I would not be surprised. What sucks is this place was recommended to him by people he trusts.

I nearly cried for you when I saw the pics...
Maybe check the home improvement store like home depot for black rubber or foam that you can spray then sand it down to match the rest. Make sure you mask the interior well or you'll regret it more.
Maybe plastidip might help a little...
And do a small test piece first...
