Hey guys,

I initially thought my left headlight bulb was dead.

Then, I was starting my car last night in front of a glass door and saw on the reflection that my left headlight actually comes on when i'm starting the car but goes off when the car is on.

What could be wrong?

^ do you mean the DRLs or the low beams? The DRLs on mine comes on only when the brake is released.

Bulb could be going out. At 4+ years old, that's not too uncommon. Try switching the bulb from one side to the other and see if that makes a difference. If the right goes out instead, it's time to replace the bulbs (replace both at the same time.) If the left still goes out, it's a bad ballast. That's a bit trickier to deal with but can be done, search the forums for a DIY.

Same thing happened on my 2007 a couple months ago. I have HIDs and changed out both (like stated above). Now they are just fine. I talked to the dealer and they said HIDs in sedans go out quicker than SUVs. Go figure, but I haven't changed out the HID bulbs yet on my RX since I bought it new in 2005.

Sounds like what was happening in my GS when the bulb was going out.
