did you have to put a clear coat on the caliper before you added the decal? i want to put a custom lexus decal on mine but dont want it to burn cause of the heat

I didn't use clear coat on mine so that I could change them in the future. I drive my car all the time and brake heavily sometimes. No problems yet. They still look perfect.

Decal will not burn. I painted my calipers black because I didn't like the dull black/gray finish on the stock calipers. Also, I noticed that some of the paint on my rear calipers is missing - looks like it's from my rim cleaner. Since I didn't paint the rears (too small), I'm not concerned with it. Anyway, I like the shiny black look on the fronts. Spray them with clearcoat after you put the decal on.
