Default Brake Fluid Color New/Old>

Hey guys, just changed my brake fluid because it was suppose to be done at 30k.... My car has 42k on it... the fluid that came out was a honey color, and the NEW toyota fluid was clear... does that sound right... Im use to the NEW fluid being a honey color. Its done now... just looking for confirmation of this... Thanks

Amazingly, brake fluid is one of the most ignored systems in your car, yet it is responsible for the most important function you will ever have need of.
Brown or Honey colored would tell me it is old and contaminated. Change it as recommended.

Also, if you live in a high humidity area I recommend a flush even more often like once a year.

My new Toyota fluid isn't clear. I ordered 3 bottles with my spark plugs from Sewell to avoid shipping costs in the future when I needed the brake fluid. It isn't honey colored like new motor oil either.

When I did mine last month new stuff was very close to clear, old stuff had a slight honey tint.

Sorry to keep the thread alive, but here is the before/after photos.

This is the USED Factory brake fluid that needed to be changed, compared to NEW Toyota Brake Fluid ordered through Sewell Lexus.... It looks pretty clear to me... maybe a slight tint of blue..

Is there a place to test brake fluid like there is for oil? That fluid I'd still run w/o a doubt.

Hmm, It's funny I would find this thread, but my car was supposed to have he brake fluid flushed at my 60K mile service at Lexus. My fluid is not clear in the resivior, but slightly orange. I hope they actually changed the fluid.... Might have to look into this.

If you still have some left over, can you take a picture of it in a clear container?

Actually, THIS is the color of my brake fluid in my resivior. Maybe not all fluid is clear.... Mine does not look dirty, it is just not clear. Anyone else have the same color fluid?

EDIT: this color seems to be the correct color for Brake fluid from Toyota.

Just did mine. Old stuff was honey color, but you could see the cloudy-ness of it if you put it in a clear jar.
New stuff was clear - looks a little bit darker once in the M/C reservoir, and the plastic has a slight color to it.
