Basically I found that car, my budget us hopefully 20k$ i mean I would go over by maybe 1,000 but basically I want the IS350 in white or black with the navigation and bashe interior. With the great reliability of Lexus, high mileage shouldn't be an issue, BUT how many miles is too many, 80k is ALOT.

well with a budget of 20k and you want navigation.. 80k seems reasonable to me for an is350 but i guess it depends on the condition of the vehicle.

**I just checked cars.com and found couple is350 with 50k-60k for around 20k so maybe not. hope someone else can chime in with more experiences with used cars. **

I'm pretty much in the same boat, and you run out of warranty. so yeah.. seems about the price range.. You can probably push 21k for 50k miles...

If you keep looking and possibly look out-of-state, you'll find what you want and at a better price.

Case in point, I purchased my '06 350 w/ 31k miles in NJ for <$21 OTD. SGM, blk interior, NAV, sports pkg...couldn't have done it much better!

my cars at 67k and runs like a champ! its 2006 is350...i follow the Lexus recommended maintenance schedule so im sure that helps. I also bought the car for 21500 @ 39k miles.

That is seriously one good deal you got. I though my '07 IS350 without NAV for $20,300 and 49,270 miles was a good deal. After taxes and doc fees, it was like $23k almost. Found mine on Yahoo! Autos.

For a daily car, I wouldn't consider anything above 60k miles but some people on this forum has reached 100k+ plus miles without any problems. I'm not going to risk it though.

has a 2002 rx 300 run like a champ with 120k miles.no major issues just some electrical problem such as one rear window doesnt roll down sometimes.. and thats it...i really dont care as long as this care turn on when i want it to and turn off.,

I got an 07 last year fully loaded minus the radar cruise with g spyder wheels and f sport exhaust with 48k miles for 24 otd so that is a decent price but you could probably get one with lower miles if you keep searching and are willing to travel a little to get it.

that car is actually pretty nicely optioned... big one is it has the sport package.... plus nav and park assist.... ad is wrong in that it states 17" wheels when those are clearly OEM 18s

My primary concern would be if your budget is just barely enough for the car, and it has no warranty, on the off chance you DO have a problem you'll be unable to afford to fix it.

On the upside, the 2IS is in general a very reliable car, and the most common issues it does have won't stop it from running or anything...(ie nav screen problem, dash needles fading, etc...)

Got mine in NJ...flew into NJ, purchased the car after a quick test drive, and drove it back home to SC. Very smooth transaction; purchased it from a Chevy dealership that got it from a older man that traded it in for a Corvette. They must have rapped him on it in order for the dealership to sell it to me for <$21k!

I found mine on AutoTrader actually. The key is to be constantly looking online and on as many sites as possible. I looked at Ebay, AutoTrader, Yahoo Auto, and Lexus forums like CL here.

For a Lexus, 80k shouldn't scare you away. There's a high-mileage 2IS thread on here, and you'll find many people with 100-150k+ miles who have had no problems outside recalls.

That said, a few things:

1) You'll want to make sure the car has had all the relevant work done, since it's out of warranty. For example the cam gear TSIB - this TSIB is covered by the 70k powertrain warranty, which this car's out of, so you don't want to buy it and a week later find you're on the hook for a $1600 repair. Go to this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...e-threads.html. Check the common issues for the 2IS. Go to Lexus.com, plug in the car's VIN number and get the dealer service history. Post it here if you like, to get people's thoughts.

2) I highly, HIGHLY recommend waiting to buy a used car if you can. Used car prices are absolutely absurd right now. I searched extensively for used IS350s 6 months ago in January, and prices were lower by thousands of dollars per car. In January, my 2007 IS350 with 56k miles, certified, luxury package, navigation, black exterior was $24k. Certification adds $1000, so that car was really $23,000 ex-CPO. You're looking at a car that's a year older, 30k more miles, and no warranty whatsoever for only $3k less. Your car back in January would have been closer to $16-17k.

So the point is, no I don't think 80k miles is high for a 2IS - many people have driven them up to 150k and past with no major issues. BUT, I really think that's too much for that car. Maybe not by today's market prices, but absolutely by market prices only 6 months ago. So if you can wait a few months to get a car, I highly recommend it.
