You don't have to remove intake manifold to do spark plugs change. I did mine with out re move it. Little hard but safe.
Do you have a 250 or a 350? Because from what I can tell, the upper intake manifold on the 250 is different, and it isn't possible to remove one or more of the ignition tubes with the IM in place.

Thanks for this IS250 spark plug R&R write up. Everything is accurate and knocked this out in 2 hours incuding breakfast.
A couple of things to note. I don't think the factory used any thread lube on the plugs during assembly. I thought 3 spark plugs were stripped they were so hard to back out. I replaced the rubber gaskets at the bottom of the intake runners. The old ones weren't in bad condition, but the new ones had more compression/were more spongier.
Thanks again for this write up and I wouldn't pay the dealership to do this simple service.
I just got mine replace by a buddy, $200 including spark plugs. Fair price? IDK, dealer was quoting $596 but i got the NGK iridium IX, should there be anything I am noticing, maybe some more pick up or what? Thanks
I realized that Megaupload was history. Also, I figured out why I couldn't upload the guide directly here (incompatible PDF format). I attached the file directly here. Enjoy.
Thank you for the write up. It's insane all the work required just to change the plugs! Who designed it? I expected easier maintenance from a Japanese car.

Probably the same team that designed the mind-blowing LFA.
I'm just glad I can still work on it and check the oil level by myself. Unlike newer BMWs, they don't have oil dip sticks.
nice post, i will try to do it myself instead of blowing 500 at the dealer. though i wonder how much is the intake gasket?. anyone with clues plz let me know. ty
