Trading my car in, estimate price??
Im thinkin about trading my car in, 2007 IS250 because my navigation system broke down (internal damage) $2900 to fix. My car is 73k miles, my right fender is damaged, and some normal wear and tear (rock chips, etc). Any estimate to how much I can get back? Still have 1 year of payment left. Thinkin bout the 370z.
So main damage = right fender and non-functional navigation.
If you have any input please feel free to comment.

With a broken navigation and damaged right fender, I'm pretty sure they are gonna lowball you pretty good. KBB is saying a bit above $14k for a car like yours in fair condition as a dealer trade

Unfortunately, when you pass 70k the dealer can't CPO the car anymore, so its less profitable to them too.
You can get a used navigation on ebay or get the FlyAudio, it will easily be cheaper than $2900 installed.

My gf bro took his IS350 to Lexus dealership couple weeks ago and they wanted $24,000 for it and private dealer wanted $25,000. It has 22,500 miles on it with premium pkg. The only downside is front brake pads are worn out and tires need replacement. I'd say you can get $13k-$14k or maybe less

I think you could probably get around $14-15k for it. Assuming the car's Carfax is clean, I would bet that after a dealer fixed the nav and fender (and assuming the car is otherwise in pretty good shape), they'd probably put it on the lot for $22-23k:

I'd say they'd need about $2-3k to get the nav and fender fixed plus maybe some paint/dent work on the wear and tear stuff.

I traded in a car this past weekend and and it was eye opening. I went in with the KBB trade in value in hand, and after a lot of negotiating, ended up getting about $2500 less than what KBB valued it at.
It turns out KBB is only a guide to what the value might be and it can be way off. Car dealers will basically offer you the wholesale value of the car, which is what the car could be sold for at auction. That price changes almost daily depending on the latest auctions. KBB trade in value is supposed to be the wholesale value but it usually doesn't represent the latest market conditions (auctions) so their price can be several thousand off. Be prepared for the dealer to offer you quite a bit less than KBB value. You can negotiate, but the dealer will not give you KBB if the market doesn't support that price.

You're absolutely right that using market prices (checking Cars.com and Autotrader for cars similar to yours) is far more accurate than KBB or NADA. However, right now if anything, used car values will be higher than what KBB quotes, because KBB doesn't adjust terribly well or quickly to current market conditions, and currently the used car market (and prices) are booming:

i got offered 13k when my car looked like this
'07 is350 50k miles, the front fenders were un folded a little in the center, nothing that would cost much to fix.
i know they would have put 3k into it, on top of the 13k offered to me, be into it for less than 17-18k and sold it for 25k. sell it private party for 16k-18k and itll sell fast.
i was gunna give it to them stock, but it was appraised the way it sits in that picture.
btw if you wanted a g35 i would trade ya in a heart beat
