Question Any 2010/2011 owners had problems with backup camera?

I have only had the car a few weeks and several times when I have switched it into reverse I only get a black screen, sometimes it comes up after hesitating and sometimes it doesn't. I have previously owned an 07 and an 09 IS and never had this problem with those two cars. I am just wondering if this is typical and due to it being a hard drive system or if I have a problem and need to carry it in for service.

Thanks!

I haven't had this problem. I do hate when there is water on it or when I switch screens after I put in reverse and it won't go back to the camera

I've seen this happen in most of the Lexus line up 2006- present at the dealer I work at. Doesn't matter which model. I call it a hiccup if it hesitates to switch, otherwise it's a problem if it doesn't

Do what I did and hack the backup camera so that it comes on whenever you want it to at the flip of a switch.
There is a DIY on this forum

Dude just bring it in whenever you have time, 1st oil change is at 10k miles. I don't think you'd want to wait that long.

The free oil change sticker they put in my car says 5K. My dealer is 2 1/2 hours away so I am going to have to deal with it for a little while because I don't want to make a special trip.

It is an intermittent problem and only seems to happen when it is put from drive into reverse (checking to make sure I am far enough into a parking space) and even then it isn't every time.

My 2010 had this problem once around a week ago. The screen just went completely black when I put it in reverse. At first I thought it would be a major problem, but it went away when I put it into drive and back again. It hasn't replicated itself so far, it should be something to have checked out though and I'm gonna do it next time I bring my car in for service.
