Possible nav fix
#49
So my touch screen went dead about a week ago. I went through all the steps on here to repair it. I had a hard time getting any sort of reading with the volt meter so i went ahead and dremel'd out the glass around all four contacts and filled with the circuit writer. After taking apart the center console, tearing apart the Nav unit, removing the touch screen, trying to repair the connections, and then putting it all back together (about 4 hours total time) - NOTHING!
I was pretty dismayed and looking at my other options (replacing the touch screen ~ $325 or dealing with Lexus ~$1500), I wasn't sure what to do. Low and behold, I go out to my car this morning... FIXED!!! I guess I just needed to wait longer for the contacts to dry out.

Lexus Test Driver
I just hit 100k on my 2008 car, so it's obviously out of warranty. My touchscreen failed, I called Lexus @ (800) 25-LEXUS and complained about how common this issue was and I was not thrilled to have to pay $3500 to have it fixed. About a week later they called and offered to replace the part for free, all I had to pay was the labor ($130). Worth a shot guys, LEXUS has always been a very stand up company for me in the past. They may not always do this type of stuff for everyone, but it's worth calling and asking at least IMO.
