I got mine because i was in love with the is300. With the newer second generation IS out, i got me a second generation IS. I got my car mainly for the looks. The class leading performance aspects for the is350 all came secondary to me. I got to have my cake and eat it too.

Good question! I was previously driving a 325i BMW that had about 40k miles and way too many maintenance problems. I knew it would retarded to keep it once my service plan expired. When I test drove the IS 350 and felt that Torque!!!! man I was sold right there.....LOL. So for me it was performance, style and reliability.

lol yea that pretty much sums it up. Couldn't be happier with the IS even though many try to spin it like I "down-graded" from the GS430.

Well I'll be happy to trade you a new IS for your new GS any day now....especially if you are going to trade me the 2013 GS! Thanks in advance, looking forward to it!

I have a long commute...80 miles each way. Wanted something good on gas, fun to drive, luxurious and fairly affordable, with a manual transmission. Found a 2006 IS250 6MT with 100,000 on it and it fits the bill perfectly. I have put 3,000 miles on it in the past month and have enjoyed every mile.

I was tired of driving my beat up old stock Honda Accord "college car". I would get funny looks getting out of it at my job (Finance Analyst). I work 22 miles from home, so I needed something that got decent mpg. I also wanted the sex appeal since I drove a POS before.
The IS fit every bill and was affordable to where I could still do the other things I wanted.
IMO:
Great MPG (averaging 29)
Sexy Looks
Affordable Luxury (Haven't found anything "cheap" on my car)
Fun to drive

Oh, and I told myself, my next car will have steering wheel controls or I'm not even looking at it....funny the options people really want. lol.

My old lease [mini cooper s] was coming to an end and I didnt wanted the car anymore and also wanted luxury and 4doors sedan, so I went and try the a4, c250 and the is250. And at the end, I took the is250 because of its reliability and the ride overall were better than the rest .

Wow, you just wrote my reply for me!. I traded in a MINI Cooper S also. The car was fun to drive but I really wanted to get into something that had a luxury aspect to it. The quality and features of the Lexus were also a big selling point.

I had just gotten my first job (hired with full salary in Feb. but didn't graduate until May) -- so figured since I was getting paid before I even started working I should reward myself...

Made a checklist with the following items:
AWD
Sedan (not truck or SUV)
Navigation
Leather
Looked nice
@ least 25 mpgs

... searched for a while and found my IS250awd. Traded my old Honda and haven't looked back

Styling was #1. I like the sleek, clean lines. The IS has a proper low front end and big ***. Most cars today try too hard to look like something forced or look "banzai." I want a car that is easy on the eyes, doesn't have odd proportions, yet lends a look of sport and luxury. The best part about the 2IS is it looks sporty on the outside, but is luxurious on the inside. Coupled with the reliability, it's the best of all worlds into one. The lease program was the icing on the cake that made it all possible. This car leases cheap for it's class. Not too many cars are ones you feel comfortable holding onto after a few years. This is one I'd feel comfortable with keeping for a long time.

Style, Comfort, Luxury, Value and Reliability. I bought mine in 2006, back then people would stop me and ask what kind of Lexus is that!!!

Parked at the mall one day, came out and there were 4 people around it looking at it.

I had narrowed down to BMW 3, test drove it, loved the way it handled, then sat in the IS and the first words that came out were "WOW"!!! this car screams Luxury and Comfort, so I bought one.
