So I'm looking for new rims. I'm going to keep the factory size which are 18's because I have the tires for life deal. Just had a couple of questions,

Can I put 18" x 8.5 all around? Normally I see 18 x 8 in the front and 18.5 x 8.5 in the rear

As for the rims, I'm looking for 10 spoke and with a big lip. Any suggestions?

 

yes, you can run a square 18x8.5 set-up and run oem-sized tires (225/40-18 + 255/40-18).

 

Thanks so I just checked and the rim size I'm looking at is 18 x 9.5 all around. I was told by a local tire shop that this not possible with the staggered OEM setup?

technically... yes and no.

255/40-18 will fit fine on a 18x9.5.

however, 225/40-18 is a stretch (in the literal sense) for 18x9.5. it's doable, but most tire retail chains shy away from stretching tires because of liability reasons.

as such, your tire shop may not be comfortable with stretching tires.

 

225-40/18 IS TOO STRETCH for Rim size 18 x 9.5

 

why don't you get 18 x 8 for the front and 18 x 9.5 for the rear .

If you get free tires for life, stick with a staggered OEM'ish fitment.

BTW, I love TSWs and actually have a set of Trakstar 4s on my Civic right now. I was actually looking last night at the Snettertons for my Lex.

 

The reason I wanted 18 x 9.5 all around because the rim lip would be the same. For the TSW willow, 18 x 9.5 have a 3" lip, while 18 x 8 have a 1.5" lip.
I just think a big lip in the back and small lip in the front is funny looking? Or is it just me?

 

its just you; thats how they are suppose to be. most rims, in the front have a smaller lip, less concave...etc

 

Im not to big on aftermarket so im changing my stock is250 17's for the five spoke gs 18's. Im going to paint them the same color as the car (smokey granite mica). =]

 

18 x 9.5 in the front is too big ( i think) and you have to deal with rubbing

 

18x9.5 isn't too "big" (read: wide).

however, that depends on the wheel offset and the tire size.

but given the context of the OP's situation, yes, they are.

 

Yeah since I get tires for life, I'm sticking with the OEM staggered. It's just I'm trying to find rims that will have the same lip size all around but it looks like that won't happen

 

The wheel I'm looking at with an offset of 20mm or 40mm for the 18 x 9.5

 

given 18x9.5, opt for the more conservative offset (40 mm).
