No sense in debating the purpose of blue tape w this guy Heyarms. In this other thread he believed we put it on to protect our cars from tires falling off trucks. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7405434#post7405434

So you ask why blue tape your car for long distances?

IT PREVENTS PAINT CHIPS. OH AND BECAUSE WE CAN

He just wants to talk crap because he doesnt think its worth doing. There is a better way to say that. Maybe "Personally, I dont like it. I dont think its worth doing." He doesnt have to be an ahole about it

I drove from San Diego to Norfolk, VA. Didn't tape it up at all and didn't get any new rocks chips (surprisingly) from what I can tell. Just some bugs but I sprayed the car down every few days to clean off the bugs. The rest of the car stayed shiny clean though.

Were you leaving Key West earlier today?

Once I tried this painters tape on my new paintjob, but after when I saw that where the tape had came loose it had damaged the clearcoat. It buffed out, but im never gonna put this shi* on my car again.
Just a good coat of quality carnauba wax and thats it. This tape dont protect against paintchips anyway, only clearbra does, but that looks so bad that I rather repaint.

Its primary use on cars is for attention wh*res.

How would painters tape (that doesn't leave any residue) damage your clear coat?

Doesn't make sense dude, something else probably happened.

And painters tape doesn't prevent rock chips? I'm sure almost everyone who posted in this thread can say that it does. Don't be a hater like the kid on the last page

If the clear bra is done properly, you cannot even tell its on. But it has to be done by a top shop, for top dollar. I had the full front of the 12C done (bumper, splitter, hood, fenders, headlights). Definitely worth piece of mind, and also considering ClearPlex for the windshield.

I had near perfect front bumper before i put the tape on, but after I removed it, the bumper had several chips, I could see the chip in tape too. PAPER wont protect paint. It may help regarding bugs and maybe very small debris, but bigger stuff what will be visible gets still throught the tape.
Only thing what really works is clearbra.
Honestly, your the first person that I've heard having issues with this. Idk if your not using 3m scotch blue painters tape, but it has worked perfectly for me

Sounds like user error putting the tape on lol, have never heard of that before ever. Your also never supposed to put tape on fresh paint anyway, common sense. And wax isn't going to do anything against rock chips. I have used the tape plenty of times and works well.

Im still waiting on someone to put blue tape on their windshield to protect againts rock/stone chips! OEM windshield cost more to replace than touch up paint on your hood or fenders. Call me a hater, but i will never understand that tape logic.

Why dont you wrap your body in painters tape so you can protect yourself from anything life throws at you? If it works on my bumper, it should work on you!

There you go, user error. Apply the tape properly next time, or pull over and take a few seconds to rip off the "flapping tape"

Wax only helps remove bugs, for rock chips it does not help of course.
So.. it reduced the number of stone chips. Which means it does help. Which means it's not useless, its just not as effective.

I wouldn't call you a hater. You're just more of a troll than anything else. Lol
