Needing new tires soon. Curious if 265's will fit the stock 18's on my IS350? Love the wide tires in the back. Has anyone tried this?? Plan on also doing BC coil overs in the near future too. Would 265's limit how low I would be able to drop the car?? Thanks for the insight.
Other than the look, I don't see why you need tires so wide for a 306hp car? It will have negative effect on fuel economy or nimbleness. But probably the car could stop faster. But just my opinion.

265's are not that much wider than 255's, and the slightly increase in width and the contact patch will improve traction and handling, albeit the improvement will be marginally noticeable for daily driving.
btw, i'd like to see empirical evidence of your statement (bolded for emphasis), unless it's just your opinion.

while both will affect your speedometer and odometer readings, the difference of the latter will affect said readings more than the difference of the former.

Correct. It's an aspect ratio. A percentage of the width of the tire in mm.
The 265/35, speedo will read 2.891% too fast
The 265/40, speedo will read 1.190% too slow
I am in the same exact situation, considering 265 or 275. I have heard this will make my snow driving even worse than it already is, would this be a bad idea?
Since the last comment on the post was Sep 2011, I am still trying to find out if 265/40/18 tire would fit on my stock 18 for my IS350??? tire im looking into is Michelin Pilot Sport. Anyone running the same setup??
