The OEM plugs are $12.18/plug, and autolite iridiums are $4.79/plug. Anybody have experience with autolite plugs?
Thanks!
All import cars especially LEXUS should always replace with recommended OEM spark plugs. If replaced with another not OE it will causes misfire and damaged a ignition coil.
I have had numberous cars come into the shop with aftermarket plugs and have seen nothing but problems. OEM is the only plug these cars seem to do well with. The cost for a one time every 60k plug change is pretty insignificant...
I'd say it's worth it spending more for the OEM plugs. I'm a college student without a job so I'm trying to spend as little as possible myself. I was looking at Autozone plugs and NGK as well. Those were half the price as OEM but in the end, I just spent like $90 for the OEM plugs from Sewell. Also, I didn't want to deal with gapping the plugs if they weren't pre-gapped. However, Autolite plugs seem to get decent reviews on them though.
$20 oil change is crazy! just my Mobile 1 oil alone is $40+, not including filter or labor...
Well If you actually or going to get cheap oil mind as well get cheap plugs too.
The question he asked was if anyone had experience with non-OEM plugs, specifically Autolite plugs. Not sure why everyone is getting on the OP's case for asking a legitimate question. That being said, I don't think it's wise to go with anything other than the OEM plugs because they are designed specifically for this engine, come pre-gapped, and you won't have to worry about additional issues. I can tell you from experience that getting non-OEM plugs is a bad idea. I did the same on my previous car and within a month my car stopped running entirely. Cost me $250 to repair it (mostly diagnostics). The engine wasn't burning up all the fuel because the non-platinum spark plugs my other mechanic put in weren't designed for that engine. My car was flooding itself over time. Saving $42 up front could cost you a lot more in the long run.
To the op....I guess it's safe to say no one has had a good experience with non oem plugs on here. Good luck and keep us posted on what YOUR experience is with the autolites.
, Denso is part of the Toyota conglomerate anywayz
Yep, they bought Nippondenso in the mid 90's and shortened the name.
Tidbit: You know those "QR code" square barcodes that you scan with your mobile phone camera that take you to a website to get additional information, and seem to be showing up everwhere these days? They were invented by Denso as a way to track auto parts.
