Default Where is the oil change light?

Hi everyone,

New guy here, great forum with lots of good info. I just acquired my 07 IS 250 with 50K miles two days ago. I checked the oil and it still looks good but I called the original dealer (JM Lexus in Fl) to see when my car was last serviced, the oil change was July 2010 at 42K. I just read that there is an oil light on the display when you need to change the oil. If I don't see it in my car should I still go ahead and change the oil?

Thanks,

The center display above the speedo (that shows temperature, mileage, range, gear, etc.) will say "Oil maintenance required" and illuminate the big orange caution exclamation point every 5,000 miles. It's not like a BMW where the oil change indicator calculates oil life based on driving habits, the one on the Lexus just counts the miles. It's easily reset at any time using the instructions in the owners manual or our FAQ posted at the top of the forum.

Since it's possible your car has conventional oil with 8,000 miles on it, and because I'm a big fan of synthetic oil, I'd probably change it if it were my car.

I'd go ahead and change it. First thing I did when I purchased my used 2IS was a syn oil change.

The light could not be on because the owner could have reset the light. Either way, the first thing I do to a car I just bought is change the oil; even if I was told that the oil was changed just the day before I bought the car.

I would go ahead and change it, I use OEM filters and order then 2-3 at a time from Sewell.
