i bought an is250 so i could have a reliable luxury car, i started considering "modding" and than realised the prices id be looking at for an F-sport intake upgrade and f-sport exhaust system, and f-sport rims..

how do you justify paying the money for what is a fairly minor change of look plus a relatively better audible noise from cabin?

is there regret from those who have done it?

For me modding is a lifestyle,is something you enjoy doing it yourself ,something that relax you. Like for some people is going to the gym.

 

Also, you mod according to your budget. I would like to do many things on the car but dont have the budget or have priorities so ... Sometimes instead of having someone else to do it for me I save money learning on the forums and from the lots of DIY we have here. G luck with your future mods.

 

modding is an expensive hobby that sets you apart from everyone else....for the most part. It also makes your ride more enjoyable and out right just more fun to drive....but then again to each his own

 

You dont have to buy "F-sport" everything.... i have a bunch of subtle mods and most were done on a budget... for instance i wanted rims but didnt have F-sport or volk/ccw money so i picked up a deal on some powder coated G-spiders and i like them a lot, not saying i wouldnt rather have the others but i just cant justify that right now. I also put an intake on.. instead of spending $200-300 i found a deal on a zero1000 for about $80 shipped brand new and it looks and sounds AWESOME. I also got a deal on a set of used TEIN coilovers which was less than buying f-sport shocks and springs and now i can fully adjust my ride height/dampening etc..

If you are on a budget troll the classifieds and find nice used stuff there are plenty of deals to be had if you look hard enough....

 

do I regret it? not at all. modding led me to CL and all new friends here in norcal!! CL fam!!

 

I have all three and i love them. Only thing I don't like is the offset of the wheels.

 

This is actually my second modding my IS, I parted out close to a year ago not because of the cost. It's actually really fun because you never really are "done" with modding once you start, there'll always be something new you want to try. You can always start with subtle mods, have fun

 

OP has a point. most, well all of the 250 owners including myself chose 250 over the 350 mainly due to price difference. if we drop 3, 4k of f-sport stuff in to our 250s, we might as well went with the 350 begin with. that was the promise i kept to myself when i bought my 250, it's just gonna be a commute sport luxury car that's good on gas, nothing will make it more powerful, but here i am with f sport suspensions, intake and exhaust . other poster was right, modding is a lifestyle, once you started, you can't stop.

 

If it makes you feel any better...I've spent 25K on my 250
Screw it....it's all how much you want to do and how long you want to keep your car. I love my IS
