Is it by any chance your garage door opener uses Homelink 2? The newer ones don't work with older Lexus below 2011 models.

Thanks for everyone's help. I don't have a stand alone remote, but I do have a keypad outside my garage. I took that off the wall, held it next to the homelink and pushed the homelink button I wanted programmed until it "fast" blinked. Then, I pushed the learning button on the garage door opener (Genie) through the sunroof while I was in the garage. Then I pushed the homelink button once, then twice. It finally worked! My weekend was a success!

Oh yes, good alternative without a remote as this will work too.
