Default Garage door opener; Cannot get it to work...

I have one of those "floating key" garage door openers, and all my other family's lexuses see the signal the first try, except mine. Is there any secret to get these cars to see and be able to open my garage door? I followed the instructions in the owner's manual to a T, but no dice.

Thanks

No trick to the rolling code opener. One step that lots of people forget is that you have to teach the car using the actual remote control by first holding the remote control close to the mirror, then holding down the opening button and the designated button on the rearview mirror at the same time. Once that is done, then you sync the car to the overhead unit. I did that with both of my cars without issue. Hope that helps.

^ +1

biggest issue I have ever seen with homelink programming has been the patience to hold both buttons for a while until the light on the mirror starts blinking faster...other than that, you can find all instructions for any type of remote on their website here:

I finally got mine programmed today. Had to press the "learner" button on main device above garage then hold the transmitter for 3 seconds to my homelink.

+1. It's so simple once you find the button!

i had the same trouble getting both my garage doors to work and it probably took me an hour and a half. you just have to keep trying it and sooner or later it will work. as of today when i press one button both of my doors open. not fun

I tried programming the Homelink on my 350...by the book, even erased ALL of the previous owner's settings. But still, no dice. I just might have to try the "learning" function via the opener as a few of you mentioned above.

i think the manual says to hold the remote 3 inches away or something but i couldnt get it to learn the code until i had the remote like right up to it touching.

I tried 2-3 times following the Lexus manual to a "T" then gave up since it was de-programming the remote pad outside the garage door and that of the other cars. Pulled out the Infiniti manual and used that process and it worked the 1st time................. .................
