Default Modifications to increase gas mileage?

Other than inflating tires (reducing rolling resistance), and aero modifications, are there any powertrain mods that will actually increase the mileage of the vehicle at highway speeds?

Thanks

cruise control, high flow air filter, synthetic oil, high flow exhaust, etc...all add a very minor increase in MPGs...

best modification to increase MPGs is reduce the weight of your right foot

Yeah, if there was anything "easy" that significantly improved mileage they'd do it at the factory to bump their CAFE average.

(and they do, for example the lighter oil the newer models run)

Already mitigating using my brake pedal as much as possible to maintain steady speed (coasting as much as possible to slow instead of wasting the power used to get me to that speed).

I'm averaging around 38mpg on the freeway, but the city driving nukes it all to hell. Combination I get about 32mpg when all is said and done.

Shift at low rpms, use cruise control, slow highway speed. these are things you can do with no cost.

i figured cruise control would be worse than being mindful of what's going on in traffic around you, since you have to brake to "break" the control instead of just coasting down to match speeds.

That's REALLY babying the throttle and making sure to coast at EVERY opportunity. I hit 42mpg on the way home from work thurs, but it was right after a fill up and lots of coasting. But I'm also in DFW Texas and it's fairly flat here.

Begs the question as to how accurate the Fuel Tank Avg readout is though.

(I know the picture shows 40, I hit 42 afterwards, but I was getting close to traffic, and couldn't pull out the phone)

install ISF under car shield do reduce drag and dont fill up gas tank over 1/2 to reduce weight. Install tires with low rolling resistance. If you have is250 lower the car so you dont have the wheel height of an suv lol

That's pretty crazy. The best I've had was 27-28 mpg highway!

That is literally impossible on the 2IS. Did you mean to say 28 and 22? the only way your getting this high of a reading is if your doing the screen that tells you your exact MPG. That screen is not accurate, your not anywhere above 30 mpg.

The only reason your seeing tank avg of 40 mpg is because you just filled up. Drive it for a little bit, otherwise the tank average is useless. You cant really consider it a tank average when that tank has gone less than 1 mile.

Go IS250! The best I could do is 26 MPG on my IS250 and I am extremely happy, I hardly have to fill up gas compared to my last turbo awd car.

That was over 20 miles.

And no, I meant 38 and 32. The car is sitting pretty stable at 32 mpg atm (with city driving taken into account).

Spending hundreds on aero packages to save $1.67 at the pump. Now that's an idea!
