'10 IS250 Wheel touch up
Last week I had some minor damage to my wheel that was more than I wanted to live with. So I decided to see if I could find some touch point and make the wheel more presentable. The other wheels had some minor areas as well so I went after them all. I was not looking for perfection just trying to make things less noticeable.
In another string I found the suggestion that Honda touch up would work on the wheels. I checked it out at Pep Boys and it came pretty close.
The one wheel with the damage I found objectionalble also need sanding. I decided to try a Rockwell Sonicrafter (vibration type) Sander. It was small and the corners allowed me to attack very small areas.
The Right Rear wheel had the worst damage. I had already tried the paint on it to check for the match, color looked good and the next step was to sand and repaint.
I sanded out the rough spots. I was just looking for a smooth surface. I have no idea if the area could be filled and wasn't ready to take it to a pro. Of course this happened to the car without the wheel insurance.
The right front wheel had some curb rash limited to the rim. Just a bit of sanding then paint.
The Left side had some very samll stone marks on the front and rear wheels
The Rear wheel came out well but if you look closely you cna see a slight dark line.
The Left Front came out the best. If you can see it you're better than I.
After the paint had a bit of time to set but was still soft I went over it with Meguiers #9 to smooth it off and blend it in and the finished with REJEX.
