Any feedback on MTEC 6000K HIDs?
This is a somewhat trivial question to create a new thread for, I suppose, but I tried searching around with few results.
So after seeing all the positive feedback on this forum about Garax 6000K bulbs, I recently tried to buy a pair on ebay, but after I placed the order, the seller told me they had some mistake in their inventory and were out of stock of the 6000K bulbs. He said they could "upgrade" me for free to MTEC 6000K bulbs (which are apparently $10 more normally), or I could opt for Garax 8000K instead if I wanted.
So what do you guys think? Will the MTEC be at least as good as the Garax? Anyone have any good/bad experiences with that bulb?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: One other question while I'm here. Is it normal for HIDs to become sort of finicky as they're about to burn out? I just noticed the other night that the bulb I thought had died was back on again. But based on what I've seen some other people reporting, it sounds like it might be common for a bulb to start going on and off or flickering or something when it's about to die.

Thanks for the responses, guys.
Do you mean it was just some time during those five years? Or it was after about five years that it went out?
That sounds a little disappointing, actually. I had gotten the impression that the OEM bulbs were supposed to be on the low end of the life spectrum, and it's usually more reasonable to expect 7-8+ years.

Well no, but it's just a little bit of an annoyance. 7-8 years doesn't seem too unreasonable for a modern bulb that's only used (for me) probably no more than 15 mins a day.
Either way, you're probably right that it's not a huge deal, but it would be disappointing to have gotten screwed out of one bulb for a potentially worse bulb.
